Registration Process

A new registration process has been established in order to accommodate our school's rapid growth.  There are now two categories of classes with different registration procedures - Open Classes and Application Classes -

Open Classes:  Registration in these classes is open, based on the student's ability to meet any prerequisites that may apply.  Students continuing in an act they were enrolled in for the previous session have priority through the "returning student" registration deadline.  After this deadline, applications for open enrollment classes are taken on a first come, first served basis.

Application Classes:  Registration in intermediate and upper level classes is handled through an application process.  Due to limited space in these classes, staff will review all applicants based on the following criteria:

  • Skill: Staff will consider present and potential skill level (using class prerequisites as a minimum baseline) and overall circus skill level.

  • Commitment: Staff will review class and rehearsal attendance.

  • Attitude: Staff will review the applicant's respect for fellow students, coaches, and equipment/personal gear as well as his or her willingness to be helpful when asked.

New students are strongly encouraged to start with a fall Circus Experience class (or Teen Connection class for students age 13-21) , which offers an overview and sampling of acts in all five genres of circus arts: acrobatics, juggling, circus theatre, aerial, and balance.  Students then generally select one or more specialized acts for winter session and go on to perform with those acts in the May shows.   New students also have the option of beginning with a level I specialized act.

Returning students are strongly encouraged to continue in intermediate and advanced levels of specialized acts they have begun studying at level I.  They will continue to acquire new skills, perfect old ones, and develop solid performance experience.  For most acts it takes at least three full years of study to progress to an advanced level.

Advancement

In the past some students have moved on to more advanced classes before they had the skills to safely enjoy their advancement.  In order to ensure that each student has successfully completed the requirements and gained the skills needed to advance to a higher level, staff is in the process of developing guidelines for class progression.  In the meantime, coaching staff will be consulted before students are allowed to progress to a more advanced level or act.  We hope that this will keep students safe and maintain the integrity of our curriculum.

Policies and Procedures

Registration: Accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Registrations will not be considered unless accompanied by tuition payment.

Registration Fee: $25 annually per student. This non refundable fee is added to the initial registration of new students and to the Fall registration of returning students.  Registration fees paid in the summer are good through the following summer.  Registration fees paid at any other time of year are good through the following fall.

Tuition: All tuition must be paid in full at time of registration.

Class Length: Classes are 55 minutes unless otherwise noted.

Refund Policy/Cancellations/Withdrawals: We reserve the right to cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment, in which case a full refund will be given. Students who voluntarily withdraw from a class, for any reason, after the registration deadline, will not receive a refund.

It is the responsibility of all returning students to be certain that their health forms have been updated with current information.

Registration Forms

Please use a separate registration form for each student (including adults).

  1. Download and print out a registration form

  2. Fill out the form including all classes you would like to take.  Because only a limited number of spaces are available in some acts, students should feel free to sign up for as many application-only classes as they like, listing them in the order of their preferences.  Payment should be made for the total number of classes the student is actually prepared to take.  If a class is unavailable and/or the student does not meet the criteria for the class, payment for that class will be refunded.

  3. To submit your application and payment:

    • Drop off application form and payment at the Circus Juventas big top, 1270 Montreal Ave., St. Paul. When the big top is closed, registrations may be slipped between the front doors into the after-hours box.

    • Mail in the form and payment to Circus Juventas.  Complete address information is on the form.

Please note that application deadlines still apply to applications sent through the mail so this option should only be used if you are applying sufficiently early.

    • Fax completed form along with Credit Card info to 651-699-4395.

Please note that application deadlines still apply to applications sent through the mail so this option should only be used if you are applying sufficiently early.
